Presenting Martinelli’s “Here Comes the Sign”

music/research

On 17/06/2022 it was pleasure to discuss about Claudio Paolucci’s Cognitive Semiotics in the context of the seminars by Vittorio Gallese’s on his Neuroscience & Humanities YT channel, with Claudio and Vittorio themselves and Fausto Caruana. In case, you can see it here. Very happy of it, apart from regularly mispronouncing Godfrey-Smith as Godfrey-Lewis (why? Argh!)

This year SMC has not been organized by me (as the previous two online edition, blame COVID). It was in St. Étienne and with my colleague Valeriya Korol we presented a paper, “For LISA. Music Composition from Gravitational waves” explaining the process that went from Valeriya’s GWD data, for the LISA mission, to my piece for prepared piano. On July 28th we also had the chance to present it at LISA meeting. You can check the paper here. And the music is here.

On 28/05/2022 we celebrated the 25th jubilee of the Master programme I am directing, Master in Digital Technologies for Communication aka MATEC, University of Torino. An amazing day we had with our guests!
Seven hours of YouTube here.

Thanks to Marco Masoero, I’ve been invited for the Teknologhia cycle of events, inside Polincontri, Politecnico di Torino. In the occasione Carlo Barbagallo and Elaine Bonsangue have shot and edited a wonderful documentary on some of my works, here on YouTube. We discussed it live on 22/04/2022 at Politecnico di Torino.

For the record, we’ve been invited by the Harvard Group for New Music to intervene at their Monday Colloquium. The zoom call should be sooner or later available (maybe)

This happened on May 21st, thanks to the invitation of Alessandro Bratus for his course on Popular music. Let’s hope we can work together on an ongoing project.

In the context of the Festival della Tecnologia, here in Torino, I will discuss with my friend and colleague Andrea Agostini about computer and music.
Here the link.
I’ve been invited by Maria Giulia Dondero and the équipe from the Centre de Sémiotique et rhétorique to participate in an workshop dedicated to “Enunciation and programming languages”. I will try to discuss a computational model for sing production.
I’ve been in Udine for the XXII Colloquium on Musical Informatics (CIM), the meeting of AIMI, the Italian association for computer music. I gave a workshop on algorithmic composition, presented a paper and gave a tutorial lecture on SuperCollider. Now waiting for proceedings.
