It’s been a while without posting. So, without covering old news, the new news. Arto fantasma played live over Filibus, an impressive film by M. Roncoroni (1915). This time we have bassoon, contrabass, prepared piano, baritone sax, electric guitar, drums, and automated drums. Cinema Massimo, National Museum of Cinema, Torino, March 8th 2024
We have recorded and played the music for the impressive 1923 film Zalamort – Der Traum der Zalavie at the To Listen To Festival in Torino (Oct 3rd).

On Nov 5, 2021, I’ve been invited to talk at the conference “Musica e Cinema. Oggetti, contesti e metodologie di indagine nella musica per film“. Unluckily, I wasn’t there physically, but at least I’ve been able to participate with a video talk, Musica e cinema: questioni semiotiche di enunciazione. A big thank to the organizing committee!
We played live the music I wrote for impressive film Maciste (1915) , thanks to the support of Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino. With an incredible quartet made up of Federico Marchesano and Stefano Risso (double basses), Dario Bruna (drums) and Enrico Degani (guitars), plus Carlo Barbagallo as a producer, we sonorized at Mole Antonelliana in Torino, as a collaboration with Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Il jockey della morte, a silent film from 1915. I’ve been invited to speak about Michael Nyman’s music in relation to Peter Greenaway’ films at the OGR-Officine Grandi Riparazioni, Torino. Here the announcement. I will intervene in duo with Domenico De Gaetano.
On Oct 28th 2010 I should be ubiquitous as I will present also a communication dedicated to audible domain in the Universal horror talkies at the Sound and Image conference in Turin, this year dedicated to “sound and genre“. Luckily, the first author is Luca Canova, and he will present our work.
I’m presenting an analysis of Bergman’s The Hour of the Wolf at the conference dedicated to Bergman here at Uni TO. That flm is an impressive achievement: I’ll try to show how much also from a sonic “point of hear”
Having written a (little) book on the subject, I’ve been asked by the Ultracorpi collective to present Coppola’s The Conversation. One of the best film ever produced. At Cinema Massimo, Museo Nazionale del Cinema, Torino, Friday February 19, 8.30 pm. Thanks Ultracorpi! It will be a pleasure to see TC on screen.
